The puppet strings symbolise the forces that once dictated thought, behaviour, and self-worth, while the act of cutting them becomes an act of survival rather than rebellion alone.
The tears within the piece acknowledge that freedom is not always triumphant. Sometimes liberation arrives hand in hand with grief — mourning the version of yourself that endured, the attachment that once felt meaningful, and the life you hoped could have existed.
From the open chest, roses emerge in place of restraint. They symbolise growth through suffering, softness surviving damage, and the return of emotional autonomy. The figure is fractured, but no longer controlled.
