Inspired by the myth of Lilith, this piece is a portrait of a woman who refuses to surrender who she is.

In many interpretations of the legend, Lilith chose exile rather than obedience. She became a symbol of female autonomy, resilience, and the refusal to accept a role that demanded silence or submission. Over time, she has come to represent women who stand firm in their identity, even when that choice comes at a cost.

The vivid crimson jacket is the only colour in an otherwise monochrome drawing, representing strength, courage, and unapologetic self-expression. The subtle horns are not a symbol of evil, but of defiance against expectations. The scar on her cheek speaks to survival rather than defeat.

She Did Not Bow Down is about choosing authenticity over approval. It is for anyone who has been told to make themselves smaller, quieter, or more acceptable—and chose not to.

Printed as a museum-quality fine art print, this artwork is designed to celebrate resilience, independence, and the quiet power of standing your ground.
