Before we discover who we are, the world often tells us who we should become.

Assigned explores the expectations, labels, and identities placed upon us from an early age. Using a hopscotch board made of social roles, achievements, and stereotypes, the artwork reflects the pressure to follow paths chosen by others rather than defining our own.

At the centre stands a young girl, faced with a future already divided into categories. Some are celebrated, some are judged, and some are feared, yet all are labels that can shape how we see ourselves long before we have the opportunity to decide for ourselves.

The red accents symbolise individuality and the small but persistent voice of self-identity that remains beneath societal expectations.

Assigned is a reflection on identity, social conditioning, and the challenge of choosing who we become in a world eager to choose for us.
